We are still growing into our paws - construction has started!
Working right on through the construction... with smiles!
Growth is a great thing! West Paw Design is one of the few companies that is still growing during these tough times. We know it is due to our great customers that choose quality eco-friendly pet products that are made in the USA! Your support is what makes our happy, little company move forward.
After out-growing our building and having to lease a portion of a neighboring office building, we are finally expanding our own facility. The new addition will add 13,536 square feet to our production area! Our whole staff is happy to know we will have more space soon. However, with all the growth, we know there will be "growing pains" that are unavoidable. The West Paw Design crew is a tough, hard working bunch that can put up with a little extra noise while having to complete their daily tasks as the construction happens all around them. The day that everyone is really anticipating will come this next Spring when the roofers begin fastening the new section of roof onto the building. It will be non-stop, over-head noise that will echo throughout the building as construction workers drill thousands of rivets through the metal sheets of roofing.
There is no doubt, that these inconveniences will be worth it! It could have been a lot worse too! Luckily, when our building was originally built in 2001, our President, Spencer Williams, had the foresight to know that West Paw Design would continue to thrive and grow. The building's back walls are actually modular and will be removed and then re-set further away to again be our back walls. Not only will this save money, but it is saving tons of waste! Each of the 14 panels weigh just under 25,000 pounds. The temporary false wall is eco too, "the metal studs we buy are over 85% recycled material" explains the Project Manager, Russell Olsen. We won't just re-use the original back wall, but the temporary wall will also be reused again this Spring as we begin the second phase of expanding our office space. The Montana weather should make the construction a little interesting, but we'll continue to give you progress updates as we add on. The best news of all is that we are able to continue our current manufacturing levels through the entire project. So our "new addition" won't affect our manufacturing levels... it just might make for a little extra background noise on the next phone call... so thanks for your patience when that happens!! |
