Hairball is a Huge Hit!
I ordered one cat and one dog toy after finding West Paw on the Made in America website for ABC news. My intention was for them to be Christmas stocking stuffers... I brought the UPS bag in the house and already the dog was ready for action! I tried twice to hide the bag and kept returning the toys to the sack only to find the toys had suddenly appeared in random places. After several attempts, I told the naughty kitty and pup that now they would only have coal in their stockings. The Hairball was an immediate hit, however, he was no match for the jaws of an eager pup (as so many of my cat toys share the same fate). I would highly recommend!
Pros and Cons of Hairball
I do like the overall design of the hairball in terms of size, fur, bell inside, etc. Two issues, though: First, the eyes were too covered in glue so I had to pull away the hair from the front of the eyes; of course the back of them should be glued, but this seemed like too much glue. Second, the manufacturer attached the tag by jamming one of those plastic hooks into the hairball, which meant I had to try to cut it off very close to the hair without cutting off the hair next to it. This is a really thoughtless way to attach a tag to a delicate object. Fine for clothing but bad for a hairball! So I'm left with a plastic stub that I can feel and no doubt a cat can, too. It should be attached by a rubber band or put the ball in a paper bag with the manufacturer info on it.
Awesome Kitty-toy
If you're going to invest in just one kitty-toy, make it this one. The only way to keep a cat from responding to the bell and chasing after the furry whatzit is storing it in a kitty-proof container.
Generally I find kitty-toys to be an immense waste of time because cats tend to find their own playthings. Not so with this innocuous Hair Ball. I received the first one as a present for the previous feline resident and, long after the catmint stuffing had ceased to attract, the current cat dug it out of hiding and it remains his favourite toy too.
I personally appreciate the lack of pieces that can be chewed off and swallowed, and that it's manufactured in the USA.
My cat thinks she's a dog, she fetches

My Ocicat has lots of kitty toys. Even things as strange as the rubber piece of a windshield wiper and a little suction cup ball called my Googleball that she fetches.
Well, guess what? Rah Rah will fetch the Hair Ball Cat Toy, too! I toss it down the hall after giving it a shake so she hears the bell ring and she tears after it. The hair on this cat toy are long enough for her to pick it up in her mouth and bring it back to me and dump it on the chair beside me. Just like a dog, this goes on until my arm is too tired to lift!
So if you have a cat that fetches or even if you don't, I recommend this cat toy. It's quality is excellent!
Thanks West Paw for your great "interactive" cat toys like the hairball that are made in the USA. Not everyone has a cat that fetches, but if you do, this cat toy is just the ticket to hours of fun!
