Couldn't be happier

By: Minnie - West Bay, RI Dec 08, 2011

First, I think future customers should ignore the reviewer who claimed the 'stuffing' came out of this bed. There is no stuffing! This is made 2 pieces of rugged fleece back-to-back and is not stuffed. It washes and dries beautifully and is very well sewn together. We have had these for years and they hold up very well. Would recommend highly to anyone.

stitching came undone within weeks

By: - Bracebridge Ontario Sep 19, 2011

this bed cost a lot of money and the stitching came undone so that the stuffing ended up all over the room. If you are selling this as a strong dog bed , you would think the stitching would be stronger than this.
I bought what I thought was a better quality bed....and spent the money to get something that wouldnt fall apart. It's a rip off to charge so much for an inferior product.

Couldn't Be Happier

By: - Ohio Jun 23, 2011

We have a veterinary clinic in Ohio, and needed a bed for each exam room. The Eco Nap has been perfect! It's just plush enough to offer comfort without being too thick (deep, padded beds have proven difficult for older dogs to rise from). We wash the beds several times a week; the stuffing doesn't shift around and the bed maintains its shape every time it goes through the washer and dryer. The seams are intact, the colors are still vibrant and it washes up beautifully. Everyone asks where we got them from, and we can't say enough for how wonderful they've been!

Absolutely Awesome!

By: - Hollywood, Florida Apr 27, 2011

I usually do not review things that I have bought online and I know it took me years to do so, LOL! This is the best made, best to wash and dry and my three doggies love them in their crates! I am going to buy three more because of the colors. Not because of bad workmanship. Pahleez!!! They are made in USA!!!! What more could you ask for???? The best part. I had forgotten where I had gotten them it's been so long! But when I tripped up on the website I remembered it because of the name and the description of the materials it is made from. The prices, well worth it. They last a long, long time. West Paw-KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!

Fell Apart

By: - New Orleans/Houston Oct 02, 2010

Our dogs love this bed. And we love the colors (way more fun than regular dog beds). They love it so much we are going to try it one more time. Unfortunately, the very first time we washed it the seams came undone. We washed it on cold and delicates. We have had other dog beds that we have washed 100s of times with no issue. We have not used it till its needs another washing but with the stuffing coming out in the core edging inside the bed we can't wash it again. We don't mind paying for a product once in awhile that is eco friendly or cool design; but not at this price if it is not durable. It seem to us that the seams were cut too close to the edge of the sewing. If we had been able to wash it again I am sure we could have used it much longer. We bought the first one in New Orleans and now live in Houston.

Machine Washable... Duh!

By: - Englewood, CO Sep 19, 2010

I've been buying West Paw mats for years... they're the best! To "San Diego" re: washing instructions. How much trouble is it REALLY to check a company's website? Pah-leeeez. You'll never buy West Paw again because they didn't include washing temp? C'mon. You must be EXTREMELY high maintenance. Keep up the good work, West Paw. I'll be a customer for life!

Awesome, but a little pricey

By: Robyn - NC Dec 03, 2009

We have bought two of these locally. They are of wonderful quality and thickness. The first was replacing an old stinky crate pad for our boston terrier mix, and it was so nice that we bought a second one for our toy rat terrier. When we got home with the 2nd purchase, we temporarily laid it on the floor and not two minutes passed before our boston mix was laying on it LOL. They obviously love these pads! I want to buy a third for our rattie's downstairs crate (boston is rarely shut in his crate, but rattie is still young) and my only hesitation is the price. We also have two of the bumper beds, which my dogs love!

Mats are Best In Show!

By: MIchele - Fort Worth TX Nov 06, 2009

These mats are utterly fantastic. I have 6...yes 6! My favorite is the cow hide style but also have the cherry red, blue and green. My rhodesian ridgebacks absolutely love these, they wash up great; they're wonderful to put in either wire or plastic crates. It's also fabulous to find a quality produce actually made in the USA. Customer for life!

Washing Instructions?

By: - San Diego May 14, 2009

I wish I could say if we like this product or not but I don't know. I just got this bed and wanted to wash it before I put it in my puppy's crate. It would be nice if washing instructions would have been included. Just saying "machine washable" isn't enough and having to come to the website to search for "more detailed product care information," which I couldn't find, is pretty irritating. How hard is it to say what temperature it needs to be washed and dried in? Since this is made from some funky materials I have no idea if putting it in the dryer is going to ruin it. Way to go West Paw. Won't be buying anything else from you because I shouldn't have to go to this much trouble to wash a dog bed!

So Washable!

By: Nik - Jamestown, RI Apr 20, 2009

Both my 12 year old German Shorthaired Pointer and 1 year old bulldog love this bed. My old girl has some incontinence problems when she's in a deep sleep and this bed is SO easy to wash and dry. I have to get a second one so they can stop fighting over the one I have!

Oversized chew toy

By: Laura - Michigan Mar 23, 2009

I am sorry to say that our large-breed dog decided her Eco-nap would be a good chew toy. I was so excited to purchase the bed, feeling it would benefit my dog and the earth. I also had read all the wonderful reviews. I believe that this mat might work better for the smaller furry friends. In our case the durability did not match up to our needs.

...and the cat too!

By: Cori - Austin, TX Mar 17, 2009

I purchased this mat at Three Dog Bakery in Kansas City. My Chihuahua loved to lay on it and chew his bones. There was a race every morning between the dog and cat to see who could claim the bed first. I threw it on the kitchen floor and they would sunbathe all morning long. It washed well and was very durable.

Love at First Sniff!

By: Branwen Steinhauser - El Segundo Oct 31, 2008

Both my girls (Chesapeake Bay Retrievers) LOVE their Poppy Bear Eco Nappers. They ride with me to the Recycle center each week, and we all are so delighted that those numerous plastic bottles "live on" in such an outstanding and responsible dog product.
It was love and snuggles at the first sniff !!!
(And I have fallen asleep on it with them -it's THAT comfy cozy!)

eco nap

By: Jennifer Fortado - College Park, MD Aug 28, 2008

Fiona, our English Bulldog puppy, claimed her eco nap bed as soon as I put it on the floor! She gets quite put out when one of our other dogs tries to use it. In fact, she loves it so much I had to get another! They wash up great and must be really comfy 'cuz she definatly prefers it over other pet beds I've gotten. Its hard to believe this plushy bed used to be plastic cola bottles. Thanks!!!

Truly scrumptuous

By: Tania - London, England Aug 07, 2008

I bought this whilst traveling in Los Angeles. When I returned home to London I casually placed it on the carpeted floor, my dog lay on it in seconds and stayed there all day! She loves it. She has selection of beds but this is her favourite. It looks good in my home and it's a great eco concept.

Very Comfy!

By: Spencer - Los Angeles Jul 16, 2008

I convinced my humans to get me one when we were on vacation and I love it! I'm a 10 yaesr old Golden Retriever so I got the biggest one and it makes my naps even more enjoyable. The humans like it because it's easy to clean and it's eco friendly. 2 paws up!

Love it

By: Katie Murphy - Long Harbour, Newfoundland May 09, 2008

I just got my new Chihuahua puppy and he loves his bed. It is very important to make a puppy feel extra comfortable during there first few days with you and this bed is certainly helping. Little King feels right at home when he snuggles up on his mat. It is also great for puppys because if he has an accident I just throw it in the washer and it comes out like new!

It's a Wiener!

By: - Minneapolis Apr 17, 2008

Our mini dachshund has the Eco Nap in his crate and loves it! It's always nice and warm when he comes out and he often wants to go in to snuggle on his own!

It's held up in the wash a few times and is still lookin' good. I can't believe how soft it is!

Thanks!

Excellent Quality

By: Nicolas - Oakville, Ontario Mar 07, 2008

Very thick and soft - well padded.
Our little dog took to it immediately.
Seems very warm, which for us is good because our dog doesn't have much hair,
and being a chihuahua-poodle in Canada isn't easy.

Love that it is environmentally friendly!

Need to clean your dog mat?  No problem! These mats are made to be washed again and again.

  • Machine Wash on COLD/COLD.
  • Machine Dry on LOW heat.   (For the very best results, tumble dry with no heat).
Extra Notes: Remember that every Washing Machine and Dryer are different.  When washing, be cautious of any sharp or jagged areas that could catch and tear fabric.  When drying our larger size mats, be sure that the mat is freely tumbling.  If one area of the mat is pushed against the heating element and does not rotate, the heat could damage the fabric.
