Room for 3

By: Leah - BC Jan 20, 2010

I invested in an XL for my three pups- two bully breed mixes and a Boston Terrier. They all fit! I've been very happy with it except that my one dog has chewed through it already so I am back on the website looking for a replacement cover.

doggie dream

By: Petra - Colorado Jan 10, 2010

My 14 year old Collie/Rottweiler Mix is in doggie heaven with his new bed.
I don't know who is more happy about this well made dog bed, my dog or I.
In his old age he deserves a good days /nights sleep.

Even nicer than expected

By: B. - Canada Dec 31, 2009

Wow! After over a year of hesitating, I finally ordered the Organic Bumper Bed. The hesitation was due to not knowing which size would be best and whether it would be soft/plush enough for my small 5 lb. dog. She developed skin problems last year and we want to reduce the amount of chemicals she sleeps with, so we liked the idea of organic cotton. She also sometimes seeks out cooler cotton when nights are warm (otherwise her Tuckered Out bed is her favorite).

I went with the XS size and am glad I did. It is surprising how soft and plush it is - she can sink easily into the sides even though she is so light weight. And the whole bed seems almost stretchy - we can pull in any direction to get the shape we want. The material looks to be extremely durable and high quality....which is what we've come to expect with West Paw.

Thanks for your pre-sale customer service. And thanks for making another wonderful product!

We all love the Organic Bumper Bed

By: Heike - Portland Nov 27, 2009

The extra large Bumper Bed was bought for our 7 mo Golden Retriever; she fell in love with this bed immediately. It took her about 1 minute to figure that this will be now her favorite place :). But we love it too - Could you make those beds even bigger, so people can join on the bed more comfortably ;)? It IS very cozy and even our cat (and she is very particular about her places) just found out that this bed is a great resting place. And that means something - usually she does not choose to rest on the floor.
The color red we choose looks great. It is very easy to wash and seems pretty durable.
And the product is made in the USA and does not have to cross all the oceans...
+ it is environmentally friendly.

Go for it!

Suite: Best beds according to our beloved dog companion

By: Delphine - Aug 13, 2009
This is the 3rd organic bumper bed we bought from you in the past 3 and 1/2 years simply because they are the best (style, comfort, colors & eco-friendly). We had to give one away because our dog's best friend fell in love with it. We have one at home & one in the office which is perfect for us. We often recommend them to others.  Thank you !!! : )

Best bed!

By: Elizabeth - Chicago/LA Aug 05, 2009

Just got on this site to buy two more beds--one for each floor of our house. Our rescue beagle mix is 11 years old and has a reputation for being very picky about beds (we tried 4 other brands in a year). She has given West Paw the seal of approval! She loves the bumper as it's firm enough to enclose the bed but gives a bit when she stretches out. Some eco beds are covered with organic cotton but have not considered the toxicity of fill material. We like that this product meets our standards inside and out. Additionally, the fill amount is excellent--not separated or lumpy. Extra points for the accessibility to all cover pieces for washing.

Very nice

By: Anonymous - BC, Canada Jun 09, 2009

Has held up to many washings. Nice material. My dog loves it. Don't listen to the 2 star review below from Iowa, this bed is well worth the price. Cheap beds fall apart. This is a well made product, Made in USA & organic to boot. Excellent!!!!

We sleep on a green bed so why shouldn't our dog?

By: Kathy - Red Bank, NJ Mar 12, 2009

I've been working for years on making my home "greener" so I was delighted to discover your bed for my beloved cardigan welsh corgi. I've bought a number of cheaper beds from chain pet stores over the years but they all compressed within a few months. Your product maintains its shape and fluffs right back after washing. Not only does my dog love it, both my rescue cats often sleep in it as well. If you know cats, you know it has to be a really special bed to get them to sleep on the floor.
Thanks for making a great product right here in the USA

organic bumber bed-love it

By: Debbie - Potomac, MD Feb 14, 2009

I have a lab'sheperd mix and a dobey hound mix. I was buying foam dog bed at Ovestock for $65 a piece. They ripped up two. The last one lasted only a month. My lab/shep loves to curl up and lay his head down. When I saw this bed and how well it is made, its eco friendly and made in USA I knew it was the one. They both love it and when they shread the other cheap one, I will get a second one. Its only been a week, but so far they love it

Love How Durable It Is

By: - Iowa Jan 02, 2009

Like Delphine from CA I also have a yorkie/poodle(yorkiepoo)mix.She just loves it and she sleeps on it every night.A bit pricy but oh well. Not really worth the money.I could probably find a better, cheaper one but,I guess this one is good for now. I don't think I would buy a bed from this store if its over $25.00 My dog loves it but I'm not such a big fan of the price

Loving it

By: jake the avalanche dog - alta, utah Dec 08, 2008

I love my new organic west paw bumper bed soooo much. It is so soft and comfy and I don't like to get on the couch any more (which makes mom & dad happy). My new bed makes all other beds feel like I am sleeping on the floor (ugh!). My joints feel better because it is so thick too. I love WestPaw so much- thank you!

Best beds according to our beloved dog companion

By: Delphine - Bay Area CA Nov 03, 2008

As an eco-friendly household these organic beds mean a lot to us. In addition, Yoko, our beloved dog, loved them from day one which was great considering that she disliked all other kind of beds. She is a 3 years old Yorkie/Poodle mix. We bought the 1rst bed when she was a pup then the 2nd one a year later. These beds are beautiful, well made, comfy, sturdy & years later show no sign of wear & tear even though she bounces on them, paws them ... have a ball with them everyday to show us how much she enjoys them. Even though Yoko is small (13 lbs), we bought medium size ones so she has room to stretch. We have a clay & a green color ones, we would consider getting another one, next time they will offer a new color. We send our deepest gratitude to the creator(s) of these beds : )

My Bullie loves the Bumper Bed

By: Kelley - Nashville Sep 02, 2008

My English Bulldog loves this bed. He curls up in it and snoozes away. We always take it when we travel. The fabric us very durable. I have washed it atleast 12 times and it's still great. The inserts have worn out a bit. But hopefully I can order inserts only.

Organic Bumper Bed

By: Kelly Heineke - Chicago Feb 26, 2008

I own two Labrador retrievers- a 2 1/2 year old black lab, Seamus, and a 2 1/2 month old yellow lab, Daisy. They both absolutely love this bed! It's completely durable and stands up to those sharp puppy teeth and claws. The washable fabric is a huge plus as well. I got an extra-large in the hope that they would share the bed which they do quite comfortably. I guess I'm going to have to get a second bed when the puppy grows up! I love the fact that the filling is made from recycled materials. Thank you!

Color Options for the Organic Bumper Bed

Need to clean your dog bed?  No problem - these beds were designed to be washed again and again.  You can wash the entire bed, cover and inner-pillows:

For quick washes (covers only):

  • Machine Wash on COLD/COLD.
  • Machine Dry on LOW heat.
For deeper cleanings, you may wash the entire bed.  Since every washer and dryer are different, we recommend different strategies to different people. If you have a machine that is known to be tough on clothing (catching or tearing fabric), then we suggest you leave the insert pillow in its cover during the wash. However, if your washer machine is a front loading machine with a gentle history, then you may separate the pillow insert from the cover, inspect inserts, and wash all parts:
  • Machine Wash on COLD/COLD using GENTLE cycle.
  • Machine Dry on LOW heat. (See extra note below)
Important Notes:
  1. If there is a tear in the white covering, or if an area of weakness is noticed, be sure to have these areas fixed or replaced before washing. If a damaged pillow is washed, the IntelliLoft™ fill could clog drains (not to mention is no fun to clean up).
  2. When drying our larger size beds, be sure that the bed is freely tumbling.  If one area of the bed is pushed against the heating element and does not rotate, the heat could damage the fabric.
  3. Be sure to "zip close" any zippers. This helps protect the zipper during the wash and gives it a longer life.
