Not so Tough

By: Capone - Delaware Jan 25, 2012

I have a pit bull puppy who is very tough on toys. We bought him this toy (for way more than it is listed on here) because we were told it was a very durable toy and perfect for power chewers... I don't know what power chewers they were referring to, but my dog had it for under an hour and managed to turn it into pieces. I will definitely be getting a replacement or a refund.

Love that BUMI

By: Adriane - Lilliwaup, WA. On the Olympic Peninsula & Hood Canal Jan 18, 2012

My 1 yr. old Golden Loves ALL the toys I got her and especially the Bumi! I love it too because I don't accidentally get nipped playing tug-o-war!She has a great time playing the game with her 2 y/o Pug girlfriend who can walk under her belly!

still looking for that indestructable

By: Anonymous - mt airy maryland Jan 18, 2012

I had hoped to find the long lasting, indestructable toy for my labs, however, I'll still be looking. My labs had the ends off the Bumi in about an hour of chewing. I also purchased the Tux shape. That has lasted a little longer than one day but they are working on it little by little. Due to the shape, I think the Tux is little more durable. They like the toys but as in all the other "power chewing" toys, the labs get the best of them. I would recommend the Zogoflex line because the dogs liked them but if you have a real power chewer, don't expect the impossible.

Impossible to Hold

By: GGDTKY - United States Jan 08, 2012

This toy is very durable, the color true and the dogs really like it. However, I don't like the design itself. For two dogs playing together, it's perfect. In the type of professional K9 situation we utilize all of the Zogoflex line toys in, the design of the Bumi is dangerous.

When the Bumi is slobbery, it's impossible for a human handler to hang onto the Bumi or to safely "out" their K9 on because it's a long, slick design. The human partner's hands slide on the slick-when-wet surface and the dog's grip can be constantly readjusted and shifted while being outed, putting a newer handler at risk of being bitten.

All of that being said, the toy is of excellent quality, just like all of West Paw's Zogoflex toys.

Fun & Indestructible

By: Hannah - Texas Jan 08, 2012

I have a Pit Bull that LOVES to tug. The problem we kept running into was we couldn't leave him alone with any of his toys. We bought our first Bumi a year ago and it is still alive and intact :) This past Christmas we bought a Bumi for all our friends and family. They have dogs ranging in size from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. So far all of them are in love with Bumi. I absolutely recommend this toy.

The only toy our Boxer hasn't destroyed!

By: Luna's Mom - NC Jan 05, 2012

Our 3 year old Boxer, Luna, can rip, shred and destroy almost anything. I was hesitant to buy this toy for her because it was $18 at a local pet boutique ... but it is worth every penny. Luna LOVES it, she spends hours chewing it but hasn't made a dent in it. It's perfect because it's not so hard that she doesn't get chewing satisfaction but it's tough so there aren't pieces of it everywhere (or for her to choke on!)
Really pleased, will buy more, highly recommend! :)

she can't wreck it

By: D.W. - Edmonton,Ab Jan 02, 2012

I bought this toy in July, 2011 for our miniature dachshund in Fort Nelson, B.C. This is the only toy she hasn't destroyed in days. She went thru a large Kong tube in about a week. The vet said that it was a great teething toy...not. Keep up the great work with these toys. Will look for more to amuse her with.

Bumi - Small 20 minutes

By: Cherie Burch - Hudson, FL Dec 26, 2011

I have a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier that is difficult to buy toys for because of his joy at destroying them. Unfortunately, the Bumi was no exception. Within 20 minutes of play with me and chewing on his own, the Bumi was half in pieces. I will be sending it back for a replacement.

I put the challenge out there for any dog toy company that feels their product is indesctructible, please contact us, we will gladly be a trial site. I love for this dog to be able to have different chew toys but it is depressing how short his play time is.

Best $15 I've spent on a dog toy!

By: Miriah - Minneapolis, MN Dec 24, 2011

Our 2-year-old Lab Bentley is the ultimate toy destroyer. We have found less than a handful of toys he hasn't chewed his way through but this is one of the select few. This is his go-to toy for everything: fetch, tug-of-war, or just running around the house, showing off! My 6' 4", 210 lb husband and he go all out playing tug of war with this thing and it doesn't have a single tear or even tooth whole! We also have the small bone, which is the only toy of the original bunch we bought for him when we first brought him home as a puppy. Best $15 I've ever spent!

Large Bumi

By: Dog Mom - Michigan Dec 13, 2011

Just got this toy today & my Augie loves it, been playing with it for a couple hours now and it's still in one piece! Normally if he can destroy something we find out in the first 5 minutes, here's hoping we can keep this one awhile.

Only problem is the ends keep slipping out of his mouth when we play tug of war. He has a strong grip but the flat, tapered ends don't give him anything to hang onto - if the end were rounded or something it would be the perfect toy.

Did not last 3 minutes of chewing

By: A. Chan, DVM - Sammamish, WA Nov 30, 2011

I have 2 Labs who love tug-o-war and are really avid chewers (most 'durable' chew toys don't last more than a few minutes). I offered the bumi for them to tug on and it worked great for that. However, when one of them got hold of it and started chewing on one end, within 3 miuutes, it started to fall apart.

I am sending it back for a replacement and will use the new one just for tugging and not chewing.

bumi

By: Anonymous - Winchester KY Nov 14, 2011

Jersey, our 1yr old doberman, loves her bumi Zogoflex. This is her 3rd one, but she does destroy them. I am saving all the pieces to show you how she destroys them piece by piece. But they are great toy.

Best Toy Ever!!

By: KimmieC - Point Pleasant, NJ Nov 11, 2011

First let me say that it's nice to find a company that makes their products in the USA. And even better to find a company that cares about the environment and the safety of our pets! We have an 11 month old Australian Shepherd Mix that we rescued. We have tried countless toys with him and he has managed to destroy them all including the ones that they claimed were virtually indestructible! This toy is the greatest. Eddy loves playing tug with it. He loves to fetch it and he even loves to chew on it and there is not a scratch on it!! We have had it for a few months now and believe me it will last forever!! Thanks for making a great toy that is safe for my little Eddy and environmentally friendly!!

Best Toys EVER

By: Erin - Frankfort, KY Nov 10, 2011

Our two energetic Rottweilers have destroyed literally every toy they have ever had...EXCEPT THESE! After spending hundreds on replacement toys throughout the years, we finally found West Paw toys. They are absolutely awesome and definitely worth the investment. Don't forget they have a replacement warrantee!

Fantastic toy

By: Anonymous - Nov 07, 2011

Best toy ever. It's my one year old labrador's favorite toys. Absolutely no teeth marks after months of chewing. Love it!

5

Great Toy

By: Anonymous - MA Nov 05, 2011

We have a 2 yr old Bullmastiff and she loves this toy. Better yet she can't destroy it. Most toys are chewed up in a matter of hours. We've had this toy for 2+ months and it's still going strong.

Indestructable

By: Anonymous - Lake Forest, Ca Oct 26, 2011

My lady moved in a few weeks ago, and brought with her a nomtastic Labrador (Sen). I already had a nomrific American Bulldog puppy (Samson). Within about 3 days, all of Samson's previous toys were destroyed. Needless to say, they get along fantastic (I can't tell who loves who more, these dogs are inseparable by will and its only been a few weeks), and they LOVE playing tug.

To the Bumi! The only toys that lived through the first wake of 75lb bully pup and 65lb lab spaz destruction, were the kongs. I won't knock the kong, for a single dog to chew on. They're great for that, but for two dogs pulling on the same toys, this Bumi has been incredible. They've probably had it 2-3 weeks now, with a good 2-3 hours per day (combined play times) of just 'going at it' trying to play keep-away.

I wish I could post a picture, but we threw it in the dishwasher 2 nights ago, and the thing looks as new as when we bought it. I don't know a better way to give this product the props it deserves, without telling the story the way it went down :)

Survived 3 months with Pit Bull and still going strong

By: Maryann - orland park, il Oct 23, 2011

We have a 2 year old Pitt Bull who usually manages to chew through "tough chew rated" toys in minutes sometimes hours if we are lucky. We have had this Bumi for over 3 months and all it has is a couple of small nicks on it and those are from when he had chewed on it for an extensive period of time. He chews it, fetches it, plays tug of war with us, and plays fetch with himself with it and it is still going strong. What a great toy!!

Bumi's are quite Amazing!

By: Charleston Dog House - Charleston, South Carolina Oct 21, 2011

This toy is very amazing. It withstands the constant tugging of multiple dogs all day long at our boarding facility. This is the toy that lasts the longest out of any toy we've bought, and the dogs LOVE it!!! It is not meant to be used as a "Chew Toy" though... if you have a dog who is a heavy chewer, the Bumi is not the toy for you. But, we don't let the dogs chew on them, so they last for months!

4

Great toy!

By: Husky-Shepherd Mom - Boise, ID Oct 06, 2011

It is as tough as reputed to be! Not a mark from the shark teeth on either of them (I got a pink one and a green one, both large) despite the girls play tug together with them and chewing on them. That said my dogs prefer plushies to hard plastic toys, so these weren't quite as big a hit as I was hoping. Still pretty awesome though, especially if you've got a dog who is hard on toys and likes to fetch and tug!

2

Not for my 15lb dog

By: - MASS Sep 26, 2011

This toy is destructible, if you have big chewers for dogs do not buy this toy.
I bought this item being told it would never get destroyed and that it had been
tested by large dogs without any trouble, would not suggest purchasing this if
you have an overactive chewer. Our 1 year old Jack mix (only a15lb dog) chewed
through it in about 15 minutes! My other products from west Paw design,
The Hurley,Huck, and Tux are just fine as they are thicker! So I will get my one
time money back and get another Hurley or Tux

5

Incredible Product!

By: - Alabama Sep 08, 2011

This is the most amazing toy. My two lab mixes have chewed through everything and destroyed every toy I've ever purchased. This has lasted 9 months and barely has a scratch. I swear I think my dog dreams about this toy as he runs to it first thing every morning, and sometimes he even sleeps cuddled with it. It floats, it's easy to throw REALLY far, and it's the most durable toy I've found so far. Also, the shape is great for tug of war between two dogs. I'm completely comfortable leaving this toy with my dogs when I'm away as I'm confident they will not choke on pieces because it's literally indestructible!!!

5

There are no words

By: - Sacramento, CA Sep 05, 2011

We have been hunting for years for a toy that our dog would not destroy within minutes. I wish I had all the money spent on other "tough" toys that did not last.

The only advise I can give is don't look any other place, this is the best toy brand hands down.

5

Not our bull terrier!

By: - Kansas City Sep 04, 2011

Our bullie managed to eat the end off in two pieces, each about one inch long. The pieces went missing in early spring and we were not sure what had actually happened to them until she regurgitated one in July and the other in September. The pieces had been in her stomach the whole time! Five stars for not destroying her digestive system-- no stars for indestructibility.

Aussie and 2 Bull Terriers Approve!

By: - Seattle, WA Aug 12, 2011

We found this at a local natural pet store for our 1 yr. old pup (pure full-size Australian Shepherd - very alpha male). He has a fondness of finding any small flaw in toys and exploiting them to destroy toys as soon as possible. Most (but not all) Kong toys are the only ones before this he didn't kill.

Just over 6 months of aggressive chewing, pulling, & throwing and other than a bit dirty it's just like new. No tears or chewed/frayed bits.

We loved it so much we decided to give one to a friend with 2 bull terriers to try. They are far more aggressive chewers/pullers than my dog - and there are 2 of them pulling at opposite ends. Honestly we thought very likely it would be destroyed within 10 min. Like us however several months and the toy is still going strong!! Highly recommend.

Part of the family

By: - Princeton Mn Aug 11, 2011

Being from the wonderful state of Montana I could not pass up the Bumi when I saw it in my local pet store (over 2 years ago). The shape and color (orange) caught my eye and now it lives in the back yard (all last winter), the front yard (rian, heat & humidity), dog room, garage.. wherever The Kids (1Golden & 2Sweet German Chocolates) drop it after playing "mine, no its Mine, no it's MINE". Each one of them have settled in for a session of "I'm gonna get this" but have since left it just for playing with as they have learned they are NOT going to destroy it! Thank you for making a product for real dogs who like to interact with one another and their humans (it has been great for "fetch it up")!! LOVE that it FLOATS so we are not looking for the "lake" toy, just grab the one that is right there and go! I also appreciate the process of how these wonderfu products are made! Thank you.

Great toy!

By: - Binghamton, NY Aug 11, 2011

We have had this toy for one day and my 10 month old Saint Bernard who chews EVERYTHING absolutely loves her new toy. She doesn't put it down and she hasn't torn it apart like all of her other toys. I don't think I will every buy another type of toy! Thank you!!

Only rubber toy he hasn't torn to bits

By: - Los Gatos, CA Jul 30, 2011

My Spinone Italiano loves to chew. He recently ate through a rubber "indestructible" ring in 5 minutes. He has had his Bumi (it's yellow so we call it the "banana slug") for 10 months and hasn't put a mark in it. It's his favorite toy and he frequently settles down with it for a prolonged gnawing session. He also loves to tug on it, throw it in the air to himself with his mouth, and retrieve it when I throw it in the yard. We haven't tried it in water yet, but I'm sure it will perform well there too. He has no interest at all in his Hurley toy for some reason.

Thank you is not enough

By: - Cincinnati, Ohio Jul 08, 2011

We bought this toy at the LL Bean outlet mall in Victor NY while on vacation (as a peace offering) to give to our power chewers back at home. (They couldn't come with us on this vacation). This toy has lived up to all the favorable reviews. Who ever designed this toy had a real insite into the mindset of the power chewer. We have two dogs, a lab mix and Aussie shepherd and it has been three days of sheer joy...and peace. Our dog toys have a life expectancy of minutes, not days. This toy has finally occupied our dogs for hours of tug, fetch, chew and violent chewing. I feel like I have reached a personal goal as a dog owner by finally finding the best darn toy that can't be destroyed by our dogs. My heartfelt gratitude to the designers of this toy..."Thanks" just doesn't cover it!
