Jaws
My dog Penny, a rescued Corgi mix, is a 20 lb. determined chewer. She has destroyed, consumed, and obliterated every other toy I've given her (Kong, Nylabone, any thing else claiming to be tough). This and the Tizzi have survived. However, they are not her favorite toys simply because she can't feed her desire to destroy with them. Thanks for making such good good quality toys!
Bigger is Better
I bought one of these for my dogs when we lived in California a few years ago. It not only survived their jaws, it moved across the country with us! I was thrilled...but it has since been lost. So, I bought a new one. It hasn't survived as well. It was torn into about 20 pieces within a few hours of the dogs getting it. I was very disappointed. However, I must say that the one we had in CA was the larger version, and this time I bought the smaller one--maybe that has something to do with why the old green one survived while the new blue one was torn to shreds. When I get an extra few bucks again, I'll come back and buy the bigger one.
Favourite dog toy for a strong, playful Rottweiler puppy
This is our Rottweiler puppy's favourite toy, by far. He's chewed his way through far too many other toys before this and while he enjoys balls and other fetch toys, his true love is plushies and other fun toys he can just play with and chew. This is the first toy we have found that he can play with and chew without damaging it. He plays with it on his own and he plays with it with his people. A truly versatile, durable toy. Money well spent!
Bumi is THE big-dog toy
We have two Dobermans (sisters) who play together all day, and this toy is our salvation! We have gone through -- and wasted so much money on -- supposedly "durable" dog toys that barely make it through a few hours with our "girls." We have had 2 Bumi's for about a year, and they chew on them, play tug of war for hours with them, fall asleep with them, drag them around... and the toys have not only survived, they barely have teeth marks in them! If you've got big, energetic dogs, this is the toy to get!!
Question
I actually have a quesetion... is this toy safe for cats?? I have a Maine coon cat that thinks he is a dog, and he loves tug of war. I want to get something rubberesque to help with the teething. He constantly has to be chewing something, but being a cat, there arent many toys geared towards that. thanks for any responses!
A Bumi for Bumi
I initially bought this product because my dog's name is Bumi and it was too cute of a coincidence not to buy it, but I had really low hopes for its durability. Bumi is a very energetic chewer. Rope bones last for maybe fifteen minutes, hard plastic bones for maybe 2 hours, and even the "indestructible" toys have never lasted for more than three days (and I don't mean they have slight damage--he tears off huge chunks of these "indestructible" toys). However, the bumi, even though it is not advertised as a chew toy, has held up for a week now, and except for the slobber you would never even know it's been used! The toy does not even have a mark on it. I will definitely be trying West Paw's other products, and hopefully the fortune that I've spent replacing toys can finally be put to better use!
Bumi is the best
One of the best toys EVER. My yellow lab, Ripley will chew and destroy even a rock, but not the Bumi. The Bumi actually wears him out and he sleeps on it. Santa will be bringing Ripley more goodies from West Paw. Your products are the BEST.
Max and the Būmi
Max, a 6 month old Portuguese Water dog, loved his Būmi, but within the first couploe hours he felt it was to long so he decided to redesign it and chewed off a couple of inches.
My Dog Loves the Bumi
Our 1 year old Golden LOVES the Bumi! He got the Hurley for Christmas, and since it's one of the only toys he hasn't completely destroyed, I bought the Bumi and the Huck a few months ago. Jack LOVES not only to play tug with the Bumi, but he just sits there and chews on it, too, and hasn't managed to destroy it. There's not even a tooth mark on this toy, and he plays with it daily. Definitely his favorite toy. I would highly recommend this toy!
Bumi or not Bumi - That is the Question
The Canine Chaos Crew loves the Bumi. We have it in 2 sizes and 3 colors. It is a great tug-o-war toy as well as chew toy for energetic pups. Our older Golden Retriever loves it as well. He accidentally got it up on the roof, still have not figured that out. However, after being on the roof in 113 degree AZ heat for a week, the Bumi did not melt. We were quite impressed with that.
We rate Bumi as PAWSOME!
Not as good as advertised. Poor quality
I recently purchased some Bumi toys from you. The rubber hard ones are great but the cloth bone one with the squeaker inside my dog chewed the corner off in no time at all. I am not happy with that since your description of that toy sounded like it would not rip so easily. I have a border terrier that is onl 17 lbs swo she is not big but had no trouble ripping it and taking the stuffing out. I still have the tag and the receipt and would like to return it since it certainly did not live up to expectations. I would appreciate it if you would contact me in reference to this item.
Thank you.
Susan
good, not great
My dog (a 10 month old Blue Nose Pitbull) truly loves these, but he rips through them in a single afternoon. The colors stimulate him, and they are great if we play together, but they get so slobbery that I cant hold on to it to tug with him. Also, if I leave him alone with any of the Westpaw toys (yes, we've destroyed them all), it will be in bite size chunks within a couple of hours. The upside is that they are non-toxic and I very clearly see that they pass through him whole, so not having to worry about him swallowing pieces is nice.
I'm glad you offer the refund, it allowed me to try every toy in the hopes that there is ONE he cant destroy in an afternoon. Oh well.
Bumi
My son purchased the first Bumi on a trip to the USA two years ago. It was an instant hit - the dogs, Staffies just love it. It keeps them busy for hours.
Bumi
It's well designed and I can see where it could easily be used for all sorts of play. However, my dog prefers to snuggle with it during her naps (not that this is a flaw in the toy, just a strange preference of my dog).
One of our dog's favorite toys!
After our success with the Zisc and learning more about West Paw, we decided to get our Wheaten a Bumi. She's a tough chewer and loves to play tug. Whenever she feels like she's not being spoiled enough, she grabs her Bumi and brings it to us for some play time. It's incredibly resilient and outlasted most of her toys, 70% of which she's managed to destroy in her 1st year!
Great product!
I recently adopted a Weimaraner whose sole purpose in life is to destroy and eat all products in the household. Kong toys (except for the largest red ball and black pyramid/ball) are gone in 10 minutes, stuffed toys are a joke, nyla bones are a no-no. My friend gave me the pink Bumi toy and it is still here several months later! He has since taught our boston terrier cross to seek and destroy, and these two can play tug of war to their hearts content with the Bumi. There is a puncture mark at each of the ends, but at this point no evidence that it'll be "dead" any time soon. I have just purchased another one as well as some jive balls. I hope that they will continue to keep them busy! Thank you for your product.
Bumi
Our 10 month old British Lab Jack loves these! He has a small, and two large. We have to be really careful with what we buy him because most dog toys he can destroy in 5 minutes or less. He gets two or three Bumi in his mouth and looks like a bandit as they curve up in front of his eyes. Pretty darn funny. He shakes them like a captured prey which is our only wish about the Bumi. Jack needs one 50% larger!! We should send a video of him running crazy with a large in his mouth, shaking them against the floor. Fully recommend.
Not Very Durable
I purchased both the Tux and the Jive a couple of months ago for my bloodhound puppy and was very pleased with the quality. She has destroyed almost all of the toys I had previously purchased for her. Although I was a bit apprehensive I purchased the Bumi for her. Within about 10 minutes she had chewed the end off. Needless to say I will be sending it back for a refund.
Shocked by all these bad reviews! We love it!
I honestly love this toy and so does a Newfie mix puppy! She destroys toys in minutes but this one has been her favorite for weeks and still looks brand new! She destroys regular toys in minutes even the ones that say indestructible! But she loves flinging this toy around and we love not having to replace it once a week!
Thank you for a excellent product!
destroyed in 3 minutes
Bought this at a dog only speciality shop - was told they never had any returned. I explained we have a staffordshire terrier and they said it would last. When I gave it to her, within 3 minutes she had chewed it in half. This is not an indestructible toy! I don't think there is anything our dog can't destroy, but thought I would try it.
Would Not Buy
My dog is a 45 pound mutt that is only a year old and he chewed right through this toy in 5 minutes. I still can't find a toy that he will not destroy.
AWESOME!!
I have a very high energy pup who loves to destroy things. I bought a bumi when I was home for the holidays and he absolutely loves it. He plays with it for hours everyday. It is a very durable toy at a amazing price. I would definately recommend this to anyone with a dog.
Not as good for tough chewers
I have had great luck with the Huck and the Hurley, but my black lab chewed through this toy in about 2 hours. I would not recommend this toy for extremely aggressive chewers, but it is a great tug of war toy for less powerful chewers!
New favorite toy!
I bought this tug toy for my 9 month old labradoodle puppy, and it is my new favorite toy! She has had it a week now, and there are no rips, tears, teeth marks...nothing to indicate that we play tug hard with this toy! I have arthritis in my hands, and ropes are difficult to hold, but not this! Thanks a million for making a product that is standing up to my puppy, and easy on my hands!
My dogs love the Bumi
Sitstay.com had recommended this product so we gave one a try. Our Toller loved it and she brings it to my husband every night for him to throw and play with her. We just got a foster dog and she loves it also. We tried to dishwash the first one but wasn't careful and it ended up next to the heating coil and melted it so we bought a new one :-) They love to retrieve and tug with this toy and it has last beautifully. We never let them just sit and chew on this toy.
bought this while vacationing
bought this while vacationing in the virgin islands this last summer. our dog plays with it every day!! she loves it !! she runs around the house shaking it , throwing in the air ect!! been real surable she is an black lab and sheperd mix and loves to chew. have bought a couple more west paw design toys lately and she loves them thanks for great product!!!!
Not so Tough
I have a pit bull puppy who is very tough on toys. We bought him this toy (for way more than it is listed on here) because we were told it was a very durable toy and perfect for power chewers... I don't know what power chewers they were referring to, but my dog had it for under an hour and managed to turn it into pieces. I will definitely be getting a replacement or a refund.
Love that BUMI
My 1 yr. old Golden Loves ALL the toys I got her and especially the Bumi! I love it too because I don't accidentally get nipped playing tug-o-war!She has a great time playing the game with her 2 y/o Pug girlfriend who can walk under her belly!
still looking for that indestructable
I had hoped to find the long lasting, indestructable toy for my labs, however, I'll still be looking. My labs had the ends off the Bumi in about an hour of chewing. I also purchased the Tux shape. That has lasted a little longer than one day but they are working on it little by little. Due to the shape, I think the Tux is little more durable. They like the toys but as in all the other "power chewing" toys, the labs get the best of them. I would recommend the Zogoflex line because the dogs liked them but if you have a real power chewer, don't expect the impossible.
Impossible to Hold
This toy is very durable, the color true and the dogs really like it. However, I don't like the design itself. For two dogs playing together, it's perfect. In the type of professional K9 situation we utilize all of the Zogoflex line toys in, the design of the Bumi is dangerous.
When the Bumi is slobbery, it's impossible for a human handler to hang onto the Bumi or to safely "out" their K9 on because it's a long, slick design. The human partner's hands slide on the slick-when-wet surface and the dog's grip can be constantly readjusted and shifted while being outed, putting a newer handler at risk of being bitten.
All of that being said, the toy is of excellent quality, just like all of West Paw's Zogoflex toys.
