AWESOME!!!

By: KELLIE C - Sacramento, Ca Aug 22, 2010

I was skeptical at first as my Lab/Shepherd mix makes it his job to destroy anything in ball shape or stuffed, we have bought the Kong tuff balls and just about every ball that says it is tough and he finds a way to destroy it. He loves tennis balls and will play with them for about 5 minutes then eat it. Now he is a aggressive chewer, but he is not able to chew the original brand kongs, yet they only come in honey comb shape and he loves the ball shape.

I purchased this on vacation at a fancy dog boutique on the recommendation of the shop that they have never had one returned because the dog ate or destroyed it. I brought it home and my dogs were in love. They both loved it so much I found a local shop that had them and bought another for my other dog. So far so good.

Indestructible

By: Allison Schneider - Vancouver, BC Aug 19, 2010

After much searching and much money spent, we finally came accross the indestructible Huck. No matter how much our little Boston chews and chews she can not destroy this toy. I would recommend this toy to anyone, especially if there dog is a major chewer like our Lucy!

No Toy is Dog-Proof, But This is Close!

By: Anonymous - Illinois Jun 29, 2010

We love the Zogoflex toys! After buying our 1 year old goldendoodle a Bumi - which quickly became his favorite toy - we decided to buy him a Huck. Now, I think the Bumi has some competition! The Zogoflex toys really keep him entertained and are truly "tough" toys, but not indestructible. As with all destructive chewers, if you leave our guy alone for long with any toy, it's bound to be destroyed. With monitoring, both toys are doing fine. The Bumi is showing some wear after a couple months, but we take it away from him if he's really bearing down on it for too long. The Huck is too new to really tell, but it seems just as durable on a first impression. Don't expect that you can just hand a destructive chewer these toys and not need to monitor...but they do perform better than most toys in this market.

Juno

By: Anonymous - Belgrade, MT May 02, 2010

Our dog Juno loves this ball. Its one of her favorites. So much so that she brings it everywhere. She has destroyed most of her other toys, but not this one. Its still going. Thanks!

Lasted 7 minutes

By: Jamie Hynes - Sarasota, FL Apr 09, 2010

I was really excited when I came across this toy. I have a 10 month od Weimeraner that destroys any toy within the blink of an eye. I gave him the Huck and decided to time its survival.....7 minutes!! I also bought the Hurley. Hope it lasts a little longer.

1 hour

By: Anonymous - Colorado Apr 03, 2010

This toy definitely fell short of expectations. Lasted 1 hour with our year old lhasa/poodle mix. Even made his gums bleed from chewing. I've had similar toys that were half the price and lasted 3 days. Don't recommend it for dogs that actually chew.

Not perfect but good enough

By: Misty - Texas Mar 23, 2010

I have a american bulldog/lab mix. She chews EVERYTHING. I have not been able to find a toy that will last more than a day. The Huck had "doggie damage" within the first hour and I still find little orange pieces everywhere, but she loves it. I know I can send it in for a refund, but I take it and she just looks so sad. It has been about a month for this Huck, but I will have to buy another one soon. Still cheaper than buying new throw rugs and shoes.

Awesome Toy!

By: Anonymous - Vermont Dec 29, 2009

My GSD has played with this toy since it first came out. It's his favorite ball and he carries it with him everywhere. It's durable, easy to throw and just a great all around toy.

over 1 and 1/2 years and counting

By: Allyson - Florida Nov 24, 2009

Our lab was chewing everything up before we bought a Huck and then shortly thereafter a Hurley. These are the only toys we let him have now, as he chews and eats all the other toys the same day we give them to him. And although he'll chew and chew on these, there are only a few teeth marks on them after over a year of ownership. Back here on the website because he's going to be getting the Bumi and Zisc for Christmas!

6 months for my Jack to destroy the HUCK!!!

By: Karen - Ontario, Canada Nov 10, 2009

The Huck is the ONLY toy my Jack plays with. She's an avid chewer and the huck lasts about 6 months before I have to replace it. Even then, she only gets small bits out of it, but I replace it because once she's got that far, she can really begin to destroy it. She chews on the huck every day, plays with it, drops it down the stairs to run after it, sleeps with it, she just LOVES it.

I buy the small Huck in bulk(6 at a time) and that lasts a LONG time but I'm afraid I might not be able to find one when she ruins one.

I highly recommend them for Jacks as they are so sturdily built and believe me, she's put them to the test, time and again, and it's the ONLY chew toy that has lasted. Maybe for larger dogs they aren't as good, but for the smaller dog, they're great. We LOVE OUR HUCKS!

LOVE THAT HUCK!!!!

By: LoveMyShepherd - Waterloo, Ontario Nov 05, 2009

My beautiful one-year old GSD destroyed every dog toy I tried until we got the HUCK. It was recommended by a girl at the local pet store, and though I thought it a bit expensive, after wasting my money on toys that lasted literally a day or a week (if I was lucky!) I went for it.
HE LOVES IT!!!! We toss it every day - I would highly recommend this toy. It's more West Paw Designs for Christmas in our family!!

Awesome Durable Toy

By: Jeff - Aug 24, 2009

I have two Old English Bulldogs that destroy any toy they get.  The huck has proven to be more durable than any other toy out there.  It has some small parts of rubber missing on it.  But we've had this toy for over two years and it's still a favorite.  I thought we lost it... so when I found it I had to look up the company printed on it to make sure we could get another one.

Macgregor's peace

By: Jes - Jun 09, 2009

Our GSD Macgregor from rescure came to live with us at 10 months.  He suffers from seperation anxiety and has many other issues.  Mac has a choice of 3 Huck's, and 2 Tux's, with his preference for the Huck's.  Some have a few wear and tear (chewing) marks but they have outlasted his chewing frenzies when he is anxious.  We are thrilled with this product and its American made and eco friendly to boot.   As long as Mac has a Huck or a Tux in his mouth, he has peace within.  Thank you!

huck

By: - cincinnati Jun 03, 2009

I purchased this product from a local company by which the salesman recommended for my dog. He is a aggressive chewer (1 1/2 yr old lab). I'd have to say that the ball works well with him, however the ends need a lot of improvement since it only took him about an hour to chew them off. Besides that, I'd have to say that this ball has lasted way longer than other toys I have wasted my money on for him.

3

Not quite durable enough

By: PowerStripes - Cleveland, Ohio Jun 03, 2009

I figured with a guarantee it was worth a shot to try the Huck. Granted, it did take at least an hour longer than most toys, but our Boxer mix managed to create a pile of little orange rubbery pieces on the floor within a few hours of giving it to her. I think maybe a different shape might last longer as the Huck has 'edges' that our dog seemed to enjoy picking apart.

2

American Pit bull Owned on it

By: Andy - Sault Ste Marie, MI May 26, 2009

Unfortunately, been looking around for a toy tough enough for my American Pit bull and this one is not up to snuff. He chewed it into tiny orange pieces in about 15 minutes. It may be good for the average dog, but any dog that chews aggressively will annihilate it quickly.

5

Chocolate Lab Tough

By: ChocolateLabMom - Lake Havasu City, AZ May 05, 2009

This is the best dog toy ever, I have been looking for a toy that wont get chewed up in 10 min. This one is it. My lab loves it and plays with it everyday and does not even have a dent in it. I would recommend this to my friends.

2

Goog but not that good.

By: Brian - Ohio Apr 30, 2009

I've been looking everywhere and tried everything for my lab for the past three years. She is an aggressive chewer and chews up everything. She went through and the Huck and an Extreme Kong in 20 minutes. This ball is not good enough for aggresive chewers. It does however, function well as a toy to throw in water as it floats.

5

THANK You! Jack Russell Approved!

By: kathy davies - wichita ks Mar 16, 2009

As the owner of two Jack Russell's who have destroyed all "nearly indestructible toys' known to man kind ... at last a toy that lives up to its word!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! My boys just love the Huck ... so much so, I'm going to purchase the frisbee toy next! :0)

Thanks again ...

durable and eco-friendly - Thanks!

By: Scott - Fresno, CA Feb 26, 2009

I am writing West Paw Design this letter to thank them for making a toy that is durable and environmentally friendly to boot.

I have 2 Australian Shepherds, a 3 year old adult and a 3 month old puppy. I have tried many products through out the years of having aussies. The Ultra Kong was the last thing I tried and it failed as well in about 24 hours.

I purchased a Huck three days ago and to my surprise my 3 year old couldn’t destroy it. The next day I bought a large Hurley and today I purchased a smaller one for my puppy.

I am thrilled that I have found a toy that they can play with and not destroy immediately.

Thank you for making a great product!

Best Toy ever

By: Andre - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Feb 18, 2009

My 1 year and 5 months old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, called Taz, loves his Zogoflex ball, that is really amazing and very durable. For sure the best purchase I´ve ever made! Highly recommended!!!

5

Alas! We lost it!

By: Jill - Calgary, Alberta Jan 31, 2009

After killing all his other toys, our yellow lab pup LOVED the huck and hurley we got him. Wasn't so interested in him when he was a baby, but now that he's eight months old and in need of some serious toys that won't end up in pieces, we lost both of them at the dog park today! Boo to the snow! We're crossing our fingers that we get a chinook soon so we can find them again, but knowing how good they are, we won't be surprised if another dog finds them and loves them too.
We love the fact that the small huck fits in our "flinger" for ever farther throwing!

5

A GREAT TOY!

By: Cathy - Lincoln, NE Jan 25, 2009

My seven-month-old lab puppy loves this ball! She feels the same about her Hurley. Great toys for big dogs.

4

NOT INDESTRUCTABLE, BUT LONG LASTING

By: AMY - ASHEVILLE, NC Jan 20, 2009

This is the only ball I have found that will last more than 10 min. before my Wolfhound mix can shred it! It now takes her several days to several weeks (depending on how agressively she chews) to make a dent in it. The only design flaw in this ball is the "disc" at each end of the ball - that is the first part to go. Even though she eventually gets the best of it I have bought several because it is the best one I have found so far. Kudos to West Paw Design - they sent me a replacement ball just as the guarantee promised!!!Thanks so much.

4

Great product for even the toughest chewers!

By: Rachel - Champaign, IL Jan 14, 2009

I have a one-year-old Pit Bull/Weimaraner mix who destroys even the toughest toys within 30 minutes (the "extreme" Kong, etc.). I've been looking for an interesting toy to keep her occupied, yet one that won't be shredded on my carpet later that day. I didn't have high hopes for this product because I feel as though I've tried every "indestructible" toy on the planet and few live up to their name.

I've had the Huck (and the Tux) for 2 weeks now and it's still in great condition. My dog did manage to tear off a small chunk of it (why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5), but overall, it HAS held up to its name! I'm thrilled, and so is my dog! She LOVES the Huck, especially the way it bounces around at odd angles. Great product!

5

So good, I went back for more!

By: Kelly - Cayce, SC Jan 11, 2009

My Doberman is a power chewer. She broke off a piece of the strongest Nylabone. She picks the rubber off the ends of Kongs. The Huck is the only toy I've found that she has not been able to destroy. Since I have 3 dogs of my own and foster 2 more, I went back and bought more Hucks. It's strong enough for the power chewer Dobie and pit bull, and the little groove makes it possible for my little terrier to enjoy it, too.

1

Not for the tough chewer

By: Stacy W - Washington Dec 30, 2008

I've been searching for a toy that can withstand a tough old Yellow Lab. Needless to say this one did not make it 10 minutes. Within a few minutes Emory was able to chew a quarter size chunk out.

3

the little Huck that could...for about 2 hours

By: Manny - Newark Ohio Dec 16, 2008

Our dog was really excited to get the Huck and totally ignored the Kong after getting it, but after about 2 hours, she managed to chew off the little nubs around the indentations in the center of the ball. It would've been better as a slightly smaller, but solid ball with no grooves probably. It seems like she just looks for little things to wear down till they break. Oh well. We got her the Hurley as well but she has to wait till xmas for that one :) It looks like those have held up a little better, but the ends don't look promising

Dogue de Bordeaux/ Boxer

By: Candice - Michigan Nov 04, 2008

This is the best toy ever made. I bought this toy when my 6 month old Dogue de Bordeaux/Boxer mix destroyed every other toy I had ever bought. He is now 2 years old & still has this ball!! He plays with it all the time. Remy even uses it for a chew & it still hasn't been destroyed. Again this is the best toy ever.

Three Large Dogs

By: Julie - Colorado Sep 22, 2008

All three dogs love chomping and chasing our Huck. It has stood up to all of their antics with only a little scratch or two. I went back to our local store and purchased another two so the girls don't have to share. Yesterday was a ball-throwing-fest and so much fun!

13 month old Lab

By: Sue Herrmann - Kenosha WI Sep 04, 2008

I have enjoyed watching my lab, now 13 months with several of the toys. At about 6 months he chewed through the zisc in about an hour, which I sent back for the refund. He has enjoyed the Hurley as has his dad, who put the first bite into it. We have now gone the last month has a favorite fetch and chew toy, but alas it may be retired has one end is gone. As they are non toxic and made in the USA, I am online to purchase a new one.

2

Lasted 10 minutes

By: Kimberly Pinckney - Houston, TX Sep 02, 2008

We just bought the Huck for our 11 month old dachshund. The store owner raved about the product and we thought we'd finally found something that would last a few days. Alas, I had to take it back up after about 10 minutes because of the amount my dog had already managed to chew off and eat. We have had much better luck with the Hurley. One whole day and counting! I'm hoping they will replace our damaged Huck with another, less destructible design.

3

Check one off for the Dogue de Bordeaux!

By: Pepe Rodriguez-Moreno - Farmington, Minnesota Aug 26, 2008

Well I was hoping for the best from the huck and found that it fell short. I bought the hurley and huck for my French Mastiff(1yr) and I guess the huck took the brunt of the abuse and went down for the count after 30 minutes. My dog started to break off chunks from the lip of the ball. Maybe if it gave the dog less of a grip it would last longer. The hurley on the other hand has lasted and even after the valiant efforts of my Pumpkin. I recommend this one highly.

4

Huck Doesn't Hold Up to the Cane Corso!

By: Tallula White - Tuscaloosa, AL Aug 26, 2008

My husband and I ordered both the huck and the hurley for our Cane Corso(8 months). I'm happy to say that the hurley is still intact after one week! The huck however only lasted about one hour. He began to chew off the ridge of the ball....and there it went. I really wouldn't recommend it for mastiff breeds. We were really hoping it would be indestructible.

5

Winner at my house :)

By: Elease - Montana Aug 14, 2008

This was a hit at my house! My Aussie/German shephard mix, Annie, pranced around the house with it showing it off before she settled down and really went to work chewing on it, and it survived! She also got a kick out of the fact that it bounces in all directions, by the end of the night she figured out that she could basically play fetch by herself by just dropping it. :)

5

Love it

By: Kristi - Arroyo Grande, CA Jul 17, 2008

We have nicknamed our dog "destructo" due to his ability and resolve to tear apart any toy in under 5 minutes. This one has lasted us months so far with absolutely no wear. We feel obligated to throw this ball nearly all day long as it is his absolute favorite for the way it bounces in unexpected directions. The amount of play on concrete has actually worn my dog's nails down (thank goodness) and his muscle tone is now awesome. Thanks for such an amazing product.

5

The Survivor

By: Gitai - Seattle Jul 08, 2008

This is the one and only toy that Bran, my corgi, has not utterly and totally destroyed within a month of getting it. In fact, it's still completely intact, and he loves playing with it.

2

Did not survive an 8 month old GSD

By: Shirley Dennis - Indianapolis IN Jun 28, 2008

We were so excited to have found a dog toy made in the USA! But in 5 minutes our German Shepherd pup had taken out a small chunk of the large huck. It was not on the edge of the raised portion but on the smooth part of the huck.

We will get the guarantee replacement and then I will give another review. I hope it is a good one. We won't let her chew on it if it breaks off. Even though she is with us when she would chew on it I don't want to take any chance of her choking or having it block her GI system.

5

Finally followed it.

By: Emily - Germany May 20, 2008

I have a 6 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback and she loves this ball-now. At first she was a bit scared and waited till it stopped bouncing to get it. But now there is no stopping her, in fact she will catch it and fling it up again to make it bounce even more. The Huck was the first ball she would bring back to be thrown again proving just how much she loves it. The bright colors are easy for her to find on various surfaces: concrete, dirt, grass, etc. I have not noticed any puncture marks but she is a chewer and loves to chew on the Huck when she is done running around.

5

Had them for years and still in brand new shape!

By: Doreen - The Woodlands, TX May 08, 2008

I bought 2 of these balls a few years ago, and they still look brand new! I have a few aggressive chewers (3 Aussies and a Lab), and they like to chew and chew on these, as well as chase them when they bounce this way and that! It's been fun watching them run all over the place trying to catch it after the bounce. This toy is ranked up there with the Kong toys I have - which also do not have any tears in them yet, (but they do have puncture holes from their teeth).

4

Only lasted 2 weeks

By: Kathy - Ventura, CA Apr 26, 2008

Lasted less than 2 weeks with my 3 year old 90 pound yellow lab. The only other toy that would last about 3 months were the Kongs. Since he loved this ball more than the Kongs I will give it another try. Maybe it was defective.

5

Great gift choice

By: Lynda - Minnesota Apr 04, 2008

I bought a number of different supposedly "tough" balls to send to freind who has a ball crazy retriever. Of the various balls in the group the huck has obviously become the favorite. My friend posts frequent photos on a photo sharing web page of her dogs on walks and swims - and the huck is always along. I don't think her dog is a super agressive chewer, but she had previously been going through tennis balls frequently - no more. After several months she is still carrying the same huck.

3

Not Boston Proof

By: Judy - Vineland, Ontario Mar 22, 2008

We purchased the Hurley and Huck after reading about the toys in the magazine "Dog's in Canada". Reading the reviews of your product we thought that we had finally found something that our Boston terrier wouldn't demolish in under a week. The toys were given to our pup at Christmas time, the Huck fared better than the Hurley, after 2 weeks we noticed bits missing. He is still playing with the toys but we have to really monitor him in case he manages to rip a big chunk off the Hurley. The Huck has a few pieces out of it.
Our dog is an extremely aggressive chewer. Because the toys have ridges in them, he is able to get his inciser teeth into the grooves and chew away. If the ball or bone were smoother it might make a difference.
I feel this product is excellent for a low to moderate chewer or a dog that just likes to play with his toys.
Excellent to see that the products are made in the U.S.A. hard to find anything now a days that isn't made "Off Shore".

Huck doesn't beat the Hurley

Our Jack Russell Terrier, Parker, was able to break the Huck. We've had great times with the Hurley though..she loves it!

5

The best toy I've found

By: Vivian Resendez - California Jan 30, 2008

I have spent so much money on various toys and balls. My male Australian Cattle Dog managed to destroy everything I gave him, and what he wasn't interested in destroying, my female ACD would take on. I have spent literally hundreds of dollars on toys that last an hour, if I was lucky. This has been such a life-saver. He can carry it around with him, hold it in his mouth and chomp it, and use it for a game of fetch. He's also learned to flip it out of his mouth with a spin so it bounces for him on the hard floors and he can entertain himself. The only reason I've had to replace the ball is because the dogs lose them. I know I always have a sturdy, safe toy for him to play with. Thank you so much for your wonderful product!!

4

Love It!

By: Caitlin - Missouri Jan 29, 2008

I love this ball! My JRT can chew up anything! Behlee loves the ball too, he wants to play with it and chew on it all day. Although Behlee was able to get a few pieces off of it, I still think it is great. We had to trash the old one and buy a new one. It took him weeks before he ever got anything off of the first one, so in my book, that is one awesome toy!

Mrs.

By: Edie - Wilsall Jan 24, 2008

Our Bouvier, Bart, loves his Hucks... Though he destroys everything else he isn't able to make a dent in them! Our only challenge is losing them in the snow, under the deck, etc.... so we have a large collection! Thanks!!

Best Chew Toy

By: - South Dec 09, 2007

My American Staffordshire Terrier puppy has not been able to destroy this yet. She has already destroyed the black and red chew toys (made by your competitors).

2

The Huck

By: twb - Jackson, MI Nov 30, 2007

My standard poodle has had the Huck (large size) less than 30 minutes and he has already chewed chunks off the raised portions of the ball. While I don't question the quality of the product, it isn't indestructible (not that the ad promised that), which I was hoping for. My soft-coated wheaten terrier is doing better with the Hurley (large size). She's still chewing on it and hasn't done any damage yet. Of course, she's 30 pounds lighter than the standard poodle. If anyone has a suggestion of a good product that isn't rock-hard rubber, please email me at huttly@comcast.net.

huck

What great dog toys. Indestructible yet provides a great chew work out for a pup who loves to eat whatever he can get hold of. Best of all, made in Montana! Thanks

Ms.

By: Karen Simmons - Sep 12, 2007

I wrote a review earlier thinking this was a toy that my 10-month-old Bullmastiff couldn't destroy. I guess I should have waited because it only took him 3 days to start breaking off pieces of the large Huck toy. So I'll be using the 100% guarantee after all. I even ordered the Hurley so he'd have two toys that would last. I don't hold out much hope for the Hurley now that the Huck has been, literally, chewed to pieces.

5

Puppy Proof

By: Mel and Sandy Ribordy - Sep 10, 2007

This is the first ball that our 8 month old Sheltie puppy has not destroyed. She is going through the chewing stage and has not made a dent in "her" new ball. She is able to occupy herself chasing and bouncing the huck. What a wonderful toy and made in the USA. Thank You all.

5

Finally, A Toy That's Lasted for More Than 10 Minutes!

By: Karen Simmons - Sep 10, 2007

I have a 10-month old Bullmastiff who has systematically been destroying every toy in the house. He'll get a new toy and just work it and work it until it's ripped open or pieces are falling off. I'm happy to say that the Huck toy is still intact despite his best efforts to chew it to pieces! And believe me, he's been trying! This is a great toy. I'm going to have to buy the Hurley too!

5

Huck

By: Mel and Sandy Ribordy - Sep 10, 2007

We have an 8 month old Sheltie, who is very active and into chewing and destroying her toys. The Huck is the best toy we have ever purchased and best of all, made in the USA. She loves the ball and so do we. Keep up the great work.

5

Patterdale Terrier proof too!

By: - Jul 13, 2007

My dog can also tear a tennis ball or any other "tough" ball to shreds in minutes. These really are indestructible.

5

Finally...a truly durable toy for large dogs!

By: - Jan 23, 2007

Our Airdale loves new toys. The heart breaker for both of us is when I have to take it away from her just moments (literally) later because she's punctured it or ripped a piece off. I began to be very suspicious of the words "durable or tough". I read some comments on another website that made me search out Huck balls when we were next at a larger pet store. Callie was thrilled to get a new toy and we are thrilled that two months later it is still fully intact and a well loved toy. Thanks for a great product!

Best Ball Ever Made

By: - Jan 10, 2007

I have three American Pitbulls that love to chew. They normally destroy chew toy products within an hour including the red dog toy that says that it is industructible. Well I am happy to say that I purchased three of these toys even though I was skeptical because a friend told me how great they were. I saved the tag because I thought that warranty was going to be used but thank goodness I just found a great product instead. It has been over a year and I am happy to say that I still have all three items and my dogs chew on them everyday. They are the favorite toy of all three dogs and like to play steal the ball with on another. Thank you for making such a wonderful product you should be proud of this high quality item.

5

Jack Russell Proof!

By: - Dec 10, 2006

I can't begin to tell you how many dog toys we have gone through. It takes our JRT a matter of minutes to kill some of them, then we found the Huck! This ball was a gift from God! I tell you, Sam loves it and it is still in one piece so I love it too! THANK you for making such a great toy!

Zogoflex - the greatest dogtoy material!!!

By: Olga Pechony - Aug 10, 2006

I have two toys made from Zogoflex - the Huck and the Hurley. My black lab chews them for about a year now and they are still as good as new!

These toys are light-weight, colorful and truly indestructible.

I have a Zisc now on my list.

A very special thanks to people who developed this material!

Greatest Ball Ever

By: Matthew Waite - Jul 27, 2006

This ball offers a one time replacement guarantee and I can't imagine ever having to actually use that warranty. It's been six months and my 90 pound retriever has hardly scratched the thing. Plus it floats. Greatest dog toy we've ever owned

Survives 5 collies

By: Carolyn Savage - Jul 20, 2006

This ball has been chewed, thrown, dropped, buried and is still one of my 5 collies favourite toys. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Have now bought some more, so they don't all fight over the one!

My dog did not destroy the ball

By: Tammi Numata - May 06, 2006

This is great ball since my black lab normally destroys any toy that I give him within a couple of minutes to a couple of hours, but I am pleased to say that it has been over three weeks and he has not be bale to destry it and he simply loves it.
