Rating the Hurley

By: Jack P Burns - Fort Worth, Texas May 15, 2012

We have a three year old Lab and a backyard pool. Every day at 3pm, Medjie comes to get me to take her out with our Hurleys. She dives for it and will start swimming for the steps and I will throw the next one to the far side of the pool. She turns in the water to go fetch that one also. She has learned to get 3 of them in her mouth at once. Great fun and exercise for her. We have five different colored Hurleys and love them.

Well worth the money

By: Linda Loper - Los Angeles, CA May 07, 2012

My 9 month old puppy usually destroys dog toys in minutes, even those described as "for tough chewers". This Hurley has withstood all she could give it. It is a hard rubber, so it gives when she chews it, but she cannot tear off pieces as with other toys. I was so delighted with this toy that I ordered 3 more.

Sure it's expensive, as dog toys go, but it lasts!

NOT for the Extreme Chewer!

By: Kelly Rajkovic - Manheim, Pennsylvania May 01, 2012

Unfortunately, the Hurley did not even last the day. We have a one year old, rambunctious pit bull mix, and this forty pound pup destroyed the Hurley. We had to take it away, afraid she would swallow the pieces. If you have an EXTREME chewer like we do, then this is not the toy for your pup. The only toys she has not been able to rip apart "yet" are the West Paw Tux and the black Kong.

Durable Chew Toy

By: Anonymous - Apr 17, 2012

My dog destroys all her toys; however, even though she is able to destroy this toy; it takes her ALOT longer. This Hurley is one of the most durable dog toys I've ever purchased. I wish it was a bit larger. I have a big dog and she likes BIG toys.

Hurley Review

By: Anonymous - Arlington TX, Apr 16, 2012

My Golden and Schnauzer love your toys, they are the only toys that the golden dosen't distroy in a day. In fact, it took him two years to finally chew apart their favorite toy the Tux. We just added the Hurley (and a new Tux) and they are already fighting over it. Great, long lasting fun toys my dogs just love.

Better than Kong

By: Anonymous - Maryland Mar 28, 2012

I got this toy for my Golden Retriever puppy who loves nothing more than to sit and destroy her toys. I got her two Kong toys that she completely destroyed in a matter of weeks. I got the Hurley from a small local pet store and two months later she hasn't even put a tooth mark on it. It has held up really well and she loves it. I have bought several more West Paw Toys since for my dog and as gifts for others. Great toys!

Almost made it!

By: sherry - Indiana Mar 23, 2012

Hate to say it, because all the reviews were great, but Brody managed to all but destroy the Hurley in a couple of days. However the tux is still intact!

Hurley a big hit with our dachshund

By: Nora - Boise, ID Mar 12, 2012

Our four year old standard dachshund is more attached to the Hurley than any other toy we have ever purchased for her! The medium size is a perfect fit. She loves to run around the house with it in her mouth, knows it by name, sleeps with it next to her and of course chews on it to her heart's content. She is a strong chewer and so far so good--no damage. We are very pleased.

Hurley Whirley

By: Sasha Bunger - Mesa, AZ Mar 07, 2012

I purchased the mini Hurley as a teether for my new pup Magi. However I also purchased the other sizes for my adult dogs. They love Hurley just as much as the Huck and Jive. Dash my Golden, loves to have Hurley and a Huck or Jive in his mouth at the same time. Whenever the pup starts to look for something to chew we just give him the mini Hurley and he is quite content. The product is easy to clean and will get years of chew time.

great product

By: Jeremy Barney - Arcata California Mar 06, 2012

Has been very durable so far and barely shows a single tooth mark after 3 weeks of hard core chewing by two 55lb dogs.

AMAZING toy!!

By: Chris877 - San Diego, CA Mar 05, 2012

This toy is absolutely amazing for my Pit Bull who chews through every other toy she gets! After months of use, there's hardly a scratch on it! One day after she was chewing on it, however, I noticed that there was blood down in a couple of the grooves on one of the ends of the toy from her chewing too aggressively. But, with less time with the toy and more supervision, everything has been perfect since and the toy is over a year old!

Withstands our ACD

By: Anonymous - Ohio Mar 03, 2012

This has been the only toy to withstand our two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog's chewing capability. I bought the Hurley 9 months ago, and it is still in great condition other than minor teeth marks. There are no chunks missing either. I was pleased that the West Paws "frisbee" lasted six month, which is a record for any flying toy we've purchased.

A miracle chew toy for heavy chewers

By: Laceyyyy - Minneapolis, MN Mar 01, 2012

This is the only toy I've given to my pitbull mix that she hasn't ripped apart in 48 hours. It might be a miracle, and she loves it.

Within a day damaged!

I bought this item yesterday. My 9 months old (Old English Bulldog) damaged the product within a few hours.

Hurley

By: Nancy R Andresen - Des Moines, IA Feb 26, 2012

Hurley is doing fine. But the unstuffed floppy dog has been destroyed. Of the 4 items we ordered the dog was Chip's favorite but now it is just an unrecognizable piece of fabric - amazingly the squeaker is still working. That is usually the first thing Chip pulls out of a toy.

Will go with some stronger items next order.

Appreciate your guarantee. Keeping dogs happy can be expensive.

Rating the Hurley & Bumi

By: Jan Wade - Ocean Springs, MS Feb 19, 2012

I ordered the Hurley because our dogs had one that needed to be replaced. We have 2 Australian Cattle Dogs and a Boston Terrier. They love these toys. I also ordered the Bumi which they have played with constantly since we got them. They are great toys for our girls because they can't chew them up. Great job on your toys.

Great!

By: Anonymous - MA Feb 14, 2012

My black lab chews through Kongs in about 20 minutes, and this toy has lasted her months without a tooth mark!

Wonderful toy, one caution

By: GSDs - Why anything else? - Tennessee Feb 14, 2012

We first reviewed the Hurley on 8/19/2011, and, as noted then, it is still one of our (now 1-year old) female GSD's favorite toys. She carries it around the house and demands attention with it (bump-bump-bump).

We have learned, though, that this is NOT a good outside toy. When thrown, it is possible for her to catch it end on... and, being smooth and slippery (with dog spit), it can go too deeply into her throat. We have stopped using it outside and gone to flying discs.

Otherwise, ALL the WPD toys we have are holding up very well and are excellent products.

Finally time to replace our Hurleys

By: Sue - Lafayette, CO Feb 08, 2012

I'm surprised by the reviewers whose dogs have destroyed a Hurley in hours. We had gone through many toys with our Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, especially when he was puppy to about 2 years old. When we got our first Hurley, things changed. He could chew it play with it, and it held together. After a while - say 2-3 years or so, it's finally getting kind of ratty - he's chewed off little pieces on each end, and I'm afraid he's going to eat them & get sick.
It's been a great toy for playing "tug" with, too. I think it's a great toy. Thanks!

Great for throwing...and destroying

By: Anonymous - Stillwater, ok Feb 07, 2012

My 106lb yellow lab loves the Hurley, however he is able to snap it in two in within a few minutes of getting it. The center is very poorly designed. It appears to have been formed perfectly to fit a dogs mouth and be weakest at those exact points.

I love the way these things throw and my dog loves to chase it, but this should be retired from the lineup. It definitely doesn't live anywhere near the durability title it is given.

Trip and Cait's Mom, Golden Retrievers-Toy Destroyers!

By: Angie Kendall - Douglasville, GA Jan 31, 2012

I was skeptical when ordering, but the trstimony from the owner of a doggie daycare push me over the edge to make the purchase. After one hour with the toys my dogs were unable to destroy them, so I called my husband to tell him how surprised I was! We are on day 8 and the toys are still whole. Unbelieveable!!!! We love your product. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!

Crazy Chewer

By: Danielle - Valdez, AK Jan 29, 2012

My dog, Willow, is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. I adopted her from the pound in May of 2011. She has proven to be quite a handful when it comes to toys. She chews through everything, destroys her toys and bones in minutes, and I hate to leave her chewing on hard, plastic toys because im afraid she will hurt her mouth and gums. Besides that she hurts everyone else with the rough edges of the toy.

My brother recommended I get the Hurley. It has worked wonderful for his dog, and has hardly had any marks in it. That was not the case with mine. Willow had ripped holes in her Hurley in less than 24 hours of having it.
In 3 days she completely destroyed one end of it.

The Hurley may work for other dogs, but not mine. Im still on the search to find a great toy for her.

No luck...

By: Anonymous - Minneapolis, MN Jan 28, 2012

Another destroyed dog toy and more wasted money. I was excited to hear that this toy was "indestructable", but our 3 year old Vizsla, Graham, destroyed it in three hours. We will be returning it for a refund.

Mini Hurley

By: Anonymous - Richmond, TX Jan 26, 2012

I have a 1 yr. old 'Deer Chihuahua' that can chew through any and everything, including the most extreme 'kong'. She has had the mini Hurley for over a week now and cannot chew it apart and LOVES it! This is the first toy that has lasted this long, so I'm sure we will be buying more!

2

Sadly...

By: Allisen - Mapleton Jan 22, 2012

Sadly, our dog has already chewed the ends off of her Hurley. We will be sending it back for the refund/replacement.

WestPaw Toys

By: Casey4442 - Atlanta Jan 18, 2012

We bought a collection of different WestPaw toys--13 in all--for two adult Labs and a 12 week old Lab puppy.
We have Hurleys, the Tux, Bumis, Hucks, Ziscs, and Jives. All the toys were exactly as advertised and so
far have proved to be very sturdy and show no signs of wear and tear with three Labs going at them daily.
These are quality items and we are happy with our purchases.

Not Setter Proof!

By: Quinn - UK Jan 17, 2012

Can't destroy a Hurley? Now that's a challenge! Only a mere 9 month old Irish Setter but I can chew anything, and just to prove it tonight....... I ate it. It only took about 45 minutes to destroy one end, leaving four of five nice rubbery chunks bitten off to eat later. Tomorrow night I'd like a go at the other end, but my master seems to have taken it away. Perhaps now I've broken it in HE is going to have a go! Or pehaps he's just sending it back!

Finally a toy that my dog can't destroy

By: Hannaguy - Alberta, Canada Jan 12, 2012

My Dog has destroyed every toy he has ever had in less then a few hours. It has been a few weeks so far with his new Hurley toy and it doesn't have a scratch on it. I am very satisfied with this product.
