The West Paw Design Story

Posted May 08, 2009

Based in beautiful Bozeman, Montana, West Paw Design is a small but mighty manufacturer of high-quality dog and cat toys, beds and apparel.  We are dedicated to creating safe, fun, and durable products for your pet, while also making a contribution to the greater picture. This is why 100% of our products are made in the USA, 98% of which are made right here in the same building as our offices (this makes for very easy quality control).

We believe in only the best for your pet!

Pets are honest, trusting creatures who depend on us humans to keep their world safe and comfortable. That's why we search high and low to find the most durable, non-toxic and safest materials to make our pet toys, beds and apparel. The fabrics we choose come straight from the clothing and upholstery industries and we often design the fabrics ourselves to match our high quality standards. We believe in safety, comfort and enjoyment for your pet and peace of mind for you!

West Paw Design wants not only to be the best IN the World, but the Best FOR the World...

West Paw Design is a certified Beneficial Corporation (B Corp). We are proud to announce that in the summer of 2013, West Paw Design became a B Corp, otherwise known as a Beneficial Corporation. B Corps are a global community of sustainably-minded international businesses including respected brands like Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, Etsy and Seventh Generation.

To become a B Corp, West Paw Design had to become certified by the nonprofit B Lab and meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Put another way, a B Corp certification is to sustainable business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. Find out more about B Corps and the results of our certification.

B Corps are important because they inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world but to be best for the world.

Creating A Minimal Environmental Impact:

We work where we live. The pristine beauty that surrounds us in the Rocky Mountain region of Montana inspires us to do our part to protect the environment. We are constantly discovering new ways to reduce waste by cutting as much raw product as possible out of every bolt of fabric, then reusing the scrap material where we can. We reuse old banana boxes to store our finished products, and employ recycled material and soy-based inks in our packaging. Our Zogoflex® products are recyclable or made from recycled materials! We believe it is our responsibility to the next generation, whether four-legged or two!

Taking Care of Our Employees:

By keeping our manufacturing local, we provide great jobs in our community, but better yet, we get to know each other as friends and family. We work hard to support one another, both on the job and outside the workplace. West Paw Design is committed to paying a fair wage and providing good benefits, such as: health insurance, retirement accounts and paid time off. Most importantly, every employee of West Paw Design shares in the success of the company through our profit sharing program. We support causes that are dear to our employees’ and customers’ hearts by participating in community fundraising events, and donating money to local and national organizations. We believe that we are only as good as the people who work here, and you won’t find a better crew anywhere!

We love what we do, and we know you will, too! If you want to stop by and take a tour of our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, please call us to set up an appointment:  1-800-443-5567 or 406-585-0505.  We look forward to meeting you.
