Dog Bumper Bed perfect for Barkley's injured back.

Posted March 26, 2010

Having a soar or injured back is no fun - for dogs or humans! Recently, West Paw was able to help out an injured four-legged friend with one of our comfy Bumper Beds. Marni, the dogs owner, sent us this letter:

Barkley the dog resting in a bumper bed

A few weeks ago, I noticed Barkley was sleeping on the floor more often (than on the couch), so I decided to buy him a dog bed. He has preferred the couch for years now, so he hadn't had a dog bed in years.  I was nervous, spending a significant amount of money on a dog bed I wasn't even sure he would use.  I also am quite picky about colors in the house, and picked West Paw because your beds seemed they might match my room the best. . .

I ordered the dog bed, and anxiously waited.  Five days later, Barkley suddenly became ill.  He couldn't climb the stairs, couldn't get in my bed with me. I realized his sleeping on the floor had been a sign that his back had been injured.  I took him to the vet, and as I arrived home with him found his new West Paw dog bed waiting!  I gave him his medicine, put a small blankie in his new dog bed and coaxed him into it.  He did a few turns and settled right in. Over the week it took him to get better, his West Paw dog bed became his favorite space.  Once he was able to climb the stairs, I brought it up every night for him.

And now that he is better. . . he still loves his dog bed!  And even better, it matches my house beautifully.

Thanks!
