Dido loves it.

January 26, 2016

I wanted to get my lab mix Dido a bed that was super comfortable and easy to wash, and this bed definitely fits the bill! I bought it in Huckleberry and it looks great. I'm very excited to see how this lasts over time.

XL Bumper bed

December 28, 2015

We actually have two West Paw bumper beds for our Portuguese Water Dog. (55lbs) One is size large and I just ordered XL. The Large does fit her but pretty much just fits her. We have had the Large bed for two years and she was a puppy at the time when we got it. She has beat it up a little but the bed has really held up. These beds are expensive but it really is worth the price. They hold up really well. My only con would be that after you wash the bed it is hard to get back to its original shape. Very frustrating.

XXL Bumper Bed

December 20, 2015

Our two bull terriers, Ruby & Tank love their new bed. We got the XXL since they love to snuggle. The quality is unparalleled and it should hold up to many launderings. My fiance remarked that it is so comfy that he could use it in place of a bean bag. :-) Keep up the great work! It is a privilege to purchase goods made in the U.S.A.Please offer a bed liner at some point. Merry Christmas.

Henry loves it

November 29, 2015

Henry, our miniature schnauzer, loved the bed from the first. It is both his bed and his safe place and he always settles himself in with his chin resting on the edge of the bed. Although we have only had it for a short time we are confident that Henry will spend many, many nights in it. We took it with us on a weekend away to give Henry a bit of home. Being anxious at being away, he threw up in it, but when we got home, it cleaned up perfectly. Thanks for a great product.

Love this bed!

September 14, 2015

I wanted to thank West Paw for such a sustainable and durable product. My great pyrenees has enjoyed the XL organic bumper bed for 6 years. It has some rips now from a visiting dog who pulled it apart, and I want to add to the stuffing after all these years of use. I was so pleased to return and find that West Paw sells individual parts so I can keep the parts that are still in good shape. Thank you West Paw for keeping me and my dog happy and healthy!

Bumper Bed

August 11, 2015

A pet store owner in our area has one of these beds for her dog (who sleeps the day away in the shop). After looking at the bed for a couple of years and balking at the price, I finally made the decision to buy one for my arthritic lab. She absolutely loved it and actually stopped wanting on my bed at night, breaking a 12 year habit. Now that she is gone, my Newfoundland has taken over the bed. She tries to cram her big body into the bed (and chooses this over her own larger bed). Looks like I will be buying a larger bumper bed in the near future! Only negative? The filling mashes down. My dogs do not seem to mind one bit and I can refluff a bit. It just doesn't look as pretty as the picture.

Organic Cotton Bed

April 04, 2015

Organic and Made in USA was what I am always searching for in my purchases, so when I got this bed as a gift I was pretty thrilled that someone else was able to find something that met my requirements. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection, I found that this thing came at a price point of $170?!?!
OK, sometimes it's worth it to spend more in the name of encouraging growth in the organic industry but still, that is like a fully organic, made in USA, queen sized bed pillow with the case. Point in case, this bed comes with a really incredibly unfriendly price point for a dog bed, but at least it's org.. Wait it's stuffed with plastic water bottle material? SO not only is this product the furthest thing from organic, but it is also stuffed with synthetic, chemically produced plastic, and then just sold at the price point of legitimately organic American goods. That is low.

Everything that I see says this item should be sold for $39.99 absolute maximum. $170 is laughable. People who buy plastic water bottle stuffing for $170 just to get to an organic cotton cover are not very savvy shoppers. There are situations where I would be content to pay almost $200 bucks for a dog bed, but not for a glorified pile of water bottles. At that price, I'd expect every component to be made in the USA, certified organic and stuffed with untreated wool or unbleached certified organic cotton. And that is a very reasonable expectation for $200.

The whole point of making items out of recycled material is to get people to want to buy and use recycled goods. That purpose is completely undermined when greedy companies like this one opt to resell them at a price point that makes them unaffordable to huge segments of the population. So way to encourage people to buy more mass produced China goods by extorting them for your glorified pile of plastic scraps wrapped in organic fabric.

I gave mine to the no-kill shelter. Would advise shoppers to take their business somewhere that they can get more than an organic bag of chemically produced plastic material being sold at the price of premium organic pillow stuffing for their hard earned money. This product and it's company are a perfect example of greedy people trying to cash in on the organic movement. They produce the cheapest conceivable combination of largely unhealthy materials that can legally carry the word "organic" anywhere on it, which is then sold at the price of premium and legitimately organic goods.

P.S. Plastic is NOT organic, environmentally friendly, or safe to expose yourself or anything you love to. Recycling it and selling it at the price of legitimately environmentally friendly filling like wool or organic cotton... is not actually environmentally friendly. Ceasing all use of plastic to deter the continued mass production of plastic IS environmentally friendly.

I don't know what would make people think that spending $200 on a couple fist fulls of plastic stuffing that is collectively worth infinitesimal fractions of a dollar is an intelligent thing to do. Do people not know how much plastic is in existence today? There's an island bigger than Texas made of floating plastic in the Pacific. It's so big that humanity literally does not know what to do with it. Except for tools like West Paw Design who shred it and sell it to clever, clever consumers for an arm and a leg. Plastic is everywhere. So overabundant that we literally can't escape it anywhere on this planet. Does that sound like something you should be playing top dollar premium fees for to stuff your dog bed with? I don't think so.

XL Organic Cotton Bumper Bed

March 01, 2015

This bed is the best. My dogs love it! My dogs used to ignore the dog beds I bought them, and I decided to splurge and try this one after a friend recommended it. It was a hit, and now I own 3 of them. My dogs are constantly in them, and they are awesome. Very snuggly for them, very durable (my pup can't destroy it), and perfect for them in a a colder climate (they can curl up in it). I have replaced the cushions in one of them, as after about a year they were getting a bit flat. It wasn't easy to do, but I did get it back together and it worked. I'm a bit scared to wash them though, as I'm afraid of any shrinkage and not getting them back together. I have just vacuumed them and spot-washed them by hand with soap and water.
I will say though that you DO need to size up if your dog is on the larger end of their recommended range! For my Portuguese Water dogs (50-60lbs), it recommends size L, which I ordered initially and had a good laugh - it looked like a bed for a small dog! XL is the perfect size for them to curl up in or stretch out if they want.

XXL Red Organic Bumper Bed

January 04, 2015

The bed is nice. The red is bold. I didn't realize it was in 2 pieces maybe I didn't read the description thoroughly. The dogs seem to like the 2 pieces because they can "bury" their bones, etc down in between the middle cushion and the bumper. It's pretty easy to remove the covers and wash them, a little harder to put it back together. It is rather expensive but I'm willing to pay more for a well made, durable product especially if it's made here in the USA! Thank you for putting people to work here in the USA! Thank you for a well made product! Thank you for finding useful ways to recycle!

What am I missing?

September 21, 2014

People must have reviewed these BEFORE they washed them. Once you take the cover off, there is no way to get it back looking like it was before. That wouldn't be so bad except that they start looking dirty almost immediately. For something so expensive, I'm definitely not impressed and am sorry I wasted my money.
